I use coon pee on my boots and scent killer on my clothes.I`ve been known to break the green foliage of cedar trees and rub the scent on my clothes, step in fresh cow **** and other nifty tricks.Do you use cover scents  and what do you use while hunting predators?

I have never used cover scent while hunting predators but use it while bow hunting deer. I use earth, pine , apple or some other type of natural scent for the area i am hunting at the time. During the rut i use Tinks or some other doe in heat scent but don't put it on myself. I use the plastic cases, 35 mm film comes in and place cotton balls saturated with scent in them and when i get to my stand, i set them out down wind my stand. They will last a long time if you recap after the hunt and store in a zip lock bag.

I like to hang my hunting clothes on a line and build a smoke fire of dry leaves and grasses just  down wind of them. I then use earth cover scent waffers around my stand. This also helps control mosquitoes. I also use coon pee on a drag rag when walking to my stand, then tie it to the tree halfway up my climb of 20ft.

I may spray some Eath Sent  on every once in awhile. For the most part I I don't use cover sent. I do keep all camo in garbage bags.

God Bless,

Song Dog

hunterfisher,

I've thought about smoking my clothes since it's not unusual to smell smoke around here in the colder weather. There are several people around here that burn wood. I've noticed this several times while sitting in a deer stand. I just haven't had the courage to do it to my good camo clothes. Have you had an oppurtunity to see it work on something coming in from down wind and their reaction? How do you smoke yours? I may experiment.

Thanks,

ME

Melvin, I explained how to do it . I just had the hanging part wrong. I ment to say hang your clothes 'downwind' of the smoke. It won't ruin them. Just wash them in sportswash or bakeing soda. Smoke makes a very good cover scent, Especially in suburban areas, and ''no',' it won't alarm deer downwind. I hope I've been of some help to you.
