rat31465 wrote: Best Squirell recipe I know of was told to me by an Old Timer friend of my Dad's.
Skin and gut the Squirell and wash it thouroughly...Wrap the squirell in strips of bacon and bake in the oven at 350 degrees Farenheit for 50 minutes, turn the heat up to 400 degrees and bake an additional 15 minutes.
Remove from oven and remove the bacon strips.
Throw the squirell out the back door to the dogs and eat the bacon..Yum Yum.
I was told that this recipe works well for Mourning Dove too.(-:
Also ducks!!!

That's almost as good as the recipe for baked carp. Fillet the carp, brush with olive oil and spices, place the carp on a new cedar shingle bake in a 350* oven for 45 minutes basting with olive oil and spices every 10 minutes, turning the carp over 1/2 way through. When the carp flakes easily feed it to the cat and eat the shingle. RD

rat!
At first I got my note pad and pencil out and was studying your recipe all the way to the end.
I was wondering if you used good bacon or the cheep stuff and if 65 total mintues was too long.
Too funny

In zee leftist state of voshington there are six species of squirrel
and the tree huggers have gotten 3 of them listed as a protected species
and because the little people (Us the tax payer and licence purchaser)
are too stupid ,according to the state to know the differance .
We're not allowed to hunt Any of them !

Thats unreal I've heard that there are groups of envromental types that want to seperate the white tail deer into different subgroups and impose regs to limit hunting that way.
I fear that with the judges that will be added in the next couple of years that that might come to be.

its worse than that we already have a protected white tail species
the "Colombia River white tail" is a no go , no hunt ,
looking at federal time if you shoot one kind of critter.
and on another note: our newly appointed DIRECTOR of fish & wildlife say's the we can only catch hatchery salmon
and its his number one priority to reduce in serious numbers
the number of hatchery fish availiable to fishermen,
We already had an idiot judge 25+ yrs ago ruled that the treaty of 1855
says the indian tribes get half of ALL the catch in washington.
now I've got nothing against indians(I'm 1/8 cherokee)
but what that treaty says is they shall have the right to hunt and fish .
not 50% of the catch ,
there is also video documentation of (people)
on quads and small helicopters driving elk herds
deep onto the reservations the week before the rifle season for elk
(several different years)
"I better get off my soap box cause its a long list"
