October 1st a friend and myself went on a disabled deer hunt and we managed to get 2 deer, I had to feild dress them as my friend has Muscular Dystrophy and I want you to know it was almost all I could do to get em dressed out and loaded in to the truck, at this rate I will need a helper next year and that really bothers me but there isnt much I can do about it so I guess I will just live with it.

Hey Jimmy, why don't you make a loading board for your deer? I have the same problem as you do when it comes to gettin a deer in the truck so I took a piece of plywood 2 ft. x 6ft. Put two.'' 1in. x 1in. stakes the length of it on one side, ''to use as runners and to help support it. Drill half inch holes, about 3 on each side , on the inside of the runners. This is for running a rope through so you can tie the carcass to the board. Then you just have to pick up one end of the board and rest it on your tailgate. Then pick up the other end and slide that critter right into your truck. oh yeah, use 1/2 in. plywood. You want to keep it light as possible. Hope you can follow my instructions. Wish I could send you a pic of the one I made. Hope this helps you out bud. It works for me.

Jimmy;
A cheap cable hoist is about $10 or less, a ratchet strap tensioner is about $5, either would lift a deer to field dress.
There is a device being advertized that attaches to the tailgate, you just have to get the animal on the arms that are at ground level, then just pull the truck forward a bit and the animal is flipped into the bed.
For a gut ripper and general skin slitting tool, I have gone to using a razor knife and the hookbilled roofer's blades, about $3 for 5, has 10 edges and each edge is good for at least 2 animals.

Jimmy, that hoist you mentioned is in Cabela's . Its called Game Hitch Hoist. Kind of expensive though, $ 159.99. I imagine you could get it cheaper from Natcheze if they carry it.

Jimmy;
A number of years ago, I made a rig to load a tiller and mower in a pickup for an old man who made his beer money mowing and tilling.
Just a cheap boat winch, with a piece of pipe bolted to the winch to fit the stake pocket, high enough to clear the crank handle and a single sheave and block mounted in the center of the front of the bed, with a ramp, the machinery went right is with just a few cranks.
I have seen 12v, 2000lb winches for $50, new, and hand operated boat winches , used, can be found for $5 or so.
The winch could also be the power for a Gin Pole to hang while gutting and then just swing the animal around and lower into bed of truck.
