How many people here have taken the flu shot?
How many haven't taken one in 5 years, 10 years, or more?
I haven't had the flu shot since 1994(last year in the military-a mandatory thing), and I haven't had the flu since I stopped getting those shots. So this makes me wonder, why do we need the shot? It's not like I'm not around hundreds of people everyday... So I know I've been exposed to the 'bug'. Sick people often go shopping, don't understand why they feel they must-but they do.

They offer them at my place of work free. I don't get them, but I have in the past. I've heard pro's and con's.
Apparently they are guessing well in advance what strain of flu will survive in a chinese pig and culture that strain. If they guess wrong that batch is pretty worthless for the flu season. Once you get the flu shot the protection builds up and peaks in 6 weeks than fades.
Ok I didn't explain the chinese pig thing very well but the flu bug always starts in China to my knowledge.

My understanding of the flu shots are that they take what they feel are going to be the 10 most common strains and that becomes the flu shot. Personally I have only taken one flu shot and although they say it's a dead strain amazingly that dead strain got me sick as a dog. Lastly I feel that alot of people get all these shots and end up keeping their immune system fairly low, then when a strong strain comes along they get it and it really lays them low.
Flu shots are a hot topic but for me they are a no go.
Take care Be safe Poacher.

Back in the "Dark Ages", 1957, I was in the Navy in San Diego when the first strain of what was then called the Aisian Flu hit. Felt like s##t for four days, then weak as a kitten for three more. To this day I've only had the flu twice, and that's when I got a flu shot. Yes, I also believe that the flu was introduced by our "Oriental trading partner", along with toys and toasters. Other maladies, such as whooping cough, TB, and other nasties that were under control, have been re-introduced by our "visitors" from south of the border. Oh well, maybe I'm just another conspiracy theorist, but I don't think that's bad. Wishing good health to all, and Merry Christmas!!
