Evening all.   Has anyone had any experience with any of the Uncle Bud's Bull's Bags?  I'm looking at one of their models that is described as being 15" tall, as I recently had some neck surgery (herniated disc) and am having trouble shooting at the range just using sandbags.   Thanks

Rock, I'm 6'4" and have a couple of fused vertebra in my neck. I can't get down on the bench at all either. I had a local machinest turn an extra long elevator bolt/shaft for my rest. I then made a wood box about 4" tall to set my bunny ear rear bag on. Looks a little funny but gets the job done. Rockydog

Rocky,
Thanks for the reply.  I think I'll try something similar to what you came up with.  That sounds like it will work quite well.  Take care and good luck with the neck.

I am 5"7' and always looking for something to rest my rifle on. I have arthritis in my feet, both elboes ahve been repaired and had casrpel tunnel surgery on my right hand.

But I get out to the range regularly because it is my backyard and when I hunt, I stay in one sport and let the deer come to me.

Welcome to the forum,

Jerry

I have the Browning version of the Bull's Bag and love it.However, mine is only about 8" tall to the bottom of the forearm.About 15" long & weighs about 40# w/ fine sand in it.

I prefer it to any adjustable front rest I've ever used.

I cut 6 pieces of 1" styrofoam (blue insulation board) about 14" wide X 18" long, and use them as 'shims' to get my height right. Also have 3 in 1/2" thickness, for fine-tuning.

Also use a funky deep buckhorn-type rear rest.The base of it is about 6" wide X 8" long,so I cut some 1" styrofoam about 8" X 10 " for it -in both 1" & 1/2" thickness.

That non-skid drawer liner from Dollar Store?Plus good old-fashioned Duco cement?Just glue it on one side of the styro board. Keeps the 'stack' from shifting....and all the styro boards will fit in a duffle bag.

I just realized how backwoods all this prob'ly sounds to you guys!

But backwoods is what we're all about. Besides if you are lugging around a 40 pound bulls bag you've got to cut weight somewhere. Styrofoam makes perfect sense. RD
