Hey everyone:

Found site by accident, doing a search on surplus powders. I live in SW La. and have been reloading for over 50 years now.

I love to experiment and do lots of shooting. I used to shoot in IHSMA, but the ranges are all too far, and I go to church on Sundays, so that ended that.

Love handgun shooting the most. I do all my hunting with handguns, too. Never met a cartridge I didn't like, altho I like some better than others. One of my absolute favorites is the 30 Herrett in either a 10 or 14 inch barrel.

Looking forward to happy times on here. I am only 70 years old, still shoot without glasses, and my ole mentors of bygone years were Elmer Keith and Skeeter Skelton, along with Bob Milek. I have an autograhed book from Elmer, "Sixguns." Also have a handmade shoulder holster made by Al Goerg for my 8 3/8" Smith & Wesson 44 Mag.

Man, the years fly by, now, but I'm enjoying all that the Good Lord will grace me with, still just as excited now as when I started. Matter of fact, waiting on two barrels from MGM, they are the 30 Reece and the 5.7x28MM. They will be 12" Contender barrels.

Well, done wrote a book,

Casper_zip

Welcome to the board. At the risk of sounding bad to those who don't know what it is, coonasses are ALWAYS welcome!

I recall the DOD defecating in their pants when "coon ass militia" showed up as personal markings on some La  Air Guard aircraft back in ther 1960s.

Yep, I remember well.

Most of the time, all people in La. are called Coon-Asses. Some spell it Koon-Asses, but it's all the same.  We don't mind at all.

Years ago, when the GM plant at Arlington, Texas finished a vehicle, they put a big prominent sign on it that said, "Built in Texas by Texans."

In no time at all, just about all cars in Louisiana had a big front license plate sign said, "Built in La. by Coon-Asses." We were quite proud of that fact. In case anyone doesn't know, La. does not require License plates on the front of the vehicle.

We get lots of coon ass jokes, like the Texas Aggies, but we love to eat and laugh. If you can't laugh at yourself, you need help.

As for my name casper_zip, when I tried to get an email with Yahoo, I spend nearly 3 days trying to get a name they would accept, finally, I got to thinking of ole Dave Casper the great tight end for Oakland Radiers, and  that was took up, so, I said, o.k. the ole cigaretter lighter zippo. Bang, I typed in casper_zip, and they accepted that name. Thats the story on that.

As for hearing about the long range shooting of the 45 ACP, don't know about that. Yall have to clue me in. I do lots of long range shooting with my pistols, and really enjoy that.

You never get too old to  learn something. About 3 years ago, I got interested in air guns. I bought a couple of really nice German made guns, and they are great. Since my love is pistols, first, I done lots of research and found some dandies. I have some Mark I and Mark II crosmans. They have been out of production probably 20-30 years, they look like a Ruger Mark I 22 auto. Those things are super accurate and powerful for an air gun. They run on Co2 12 gram bottles.

I had one made up by a custom air gun smith in  Californina, and it is completely awesome. It will shoot 1/2" at 50 yards with the pellets it likes. It was not cheap, but worth every penny. Somewhere on the $500 mark. I love it. It has a 12" barrel and a better trigger than most any gun.

Done wrote a book, I'm already liking it on here. I also belong to Speciality Pistols Forum and Graybeards, plus a few more.

Our eldest son recently bought a pump up(one cocking) pellet rifle that is quite nice. We walked a bit across the lawn and I hit a young squirrel in the head(by accident but I did not tell him of course).
