Folks,I often thought that at the age most of us are that we never had to worry about being taken by a con or could spot when a liar was feeding us a big blast of garbage that they made up..
Well as of recently it appears I was wrong. So I need to post a few things for everyone to read.
If you come to the HB and post about yourself, just tell the truth in whatever you care to share with us.Nobody will care if you are poor as a church mouse, own a cheap rifle and haven`t hunted once in your life. These folks here are good men and will treat everyone with respect no matter what their status in life is.There is absolutely no reason to lie about it.
On to credentials,If you come here and post that you are a Navy SEAL, Ranger,Green Beret,Scout Sniper, whatever be prepared to abck up those claims. And the same goes if you come here and tell me you have hunted in Africa countless times with one of the fifty custom dangerous game rifles you had built for each trip,be prepared to back it up.
If you come to me and tell me you are a rocket scientist at NASA or a school teacher in Tupelo Mississippi,be prepared to back it up.If thats what you do,you have no reason to care.
The problem lies in wherein a member comes on board and gains trust by living a huge lie online.Claiming to be someone they are not. Then they use that trust to take advantage of good folks who are sincere and caring by trying to help them. Now we have a problem.
Basically what I am saying is if you come here and care to tell us what you do for a living, where you hunt, what you hunt, what you shoot..tell the truth.Thats all we ask, simply tell the truth.
If you want to be a part of staff here, from now on I must ask for proof if you tell me you are a cop,a firefighter,a judge, whatever it may be that you disclose. The board has grown large enough that the credibility of its staff has to be impeccable.
Now regarding ethics and money. If you are in a hard spot and you need money and have friends here.Guys,I won`t allow anyone else asking for money on the board openly. If your rent is due and you got fired please don`t ask on the open board.Take it private to your friends if thats what you feel you need to do.
From now on,if I see anyone else asking for money for whatever excuse it may be,the post will be deleted and at best you will be warned about soliciting members for money.I am extremely serious about this as I am one of e few folks that has given money to individuals on several occasions to help them out with this and that.
There are many organizations out there that are great charities and I can plug a few of em and I do on occasion.Otherwise,if someone is here asking you to give them money, let me know and I`ll see about it or one of the other staff will do the same if you are friends with any of the guys on staff here.
Lastly,we are all adults here.Use your common sense and best judgement in dealing with other members if you are or were approached by a member here asking for money.Would you give your hard earned cash to some guy who just walked up to you on the street and said,I need money? No you wouldn`t,use your common sense. If you don`t know a person don`t fall for a scam guys..
With all this said If you see something here you don`t think is right, please notify me or another board founder or admin.I assure you we will get to the bottom of it and will do what is right involving con men, scammers, liars, and posers.

We have been asked to not exaggerate our records or to embelish our needs should they arise; great, but I wish to ask that in addition, we use this great location to post our dire shortages in a time of crisis should one arise.
For example member A has powder but member J can not locate any and the Zombies are stiring---. I propose that we consider donating what is needed, never ever sell or trade, to a member in dire straits or who can not get his necessaries.
I have already done so and suggest this is the way we should go; the right hand not knowing what the left ( hand) is doing.

Thank you Sir. It just may be that if things go "south" and we see the elephant, the local pd's will have some of their folks go to protect their homes and families.

Perhaps you should try a heavier bullet; they are longer and I made the experience that some of those 98K rifles shoot really good with the Accubond bullets.

Well, I'm a vet, but I was a pecker checker in Key West Florida and never saw action other than a bar fight or two. Snow birds in bikinis provided all the real action I suppose.
I agree that 8mm mausers do best with long, heavier bullets. I'm real fond of 200 grainers, seated out as far as possible due to the long throat.

Googled you up;from what I've read so far, the basic premises of the HB seem straightforward. Will need to get acclimated to the "local talk" and find out who knows what about what. No genius, but proud of my honesty and fairness.

Having spent a long time now in street ministry. We have coined a name for these fellas that seem to have been everywhere done every thing better than rest of us. We refure to them as the "Bungee jumping navy seal nijas"
There always seems to be one guy in the ministry house at all times that was a "ranger, green baret, navy seal, navy diver, bla bla bla" When you start pushing for proof they fall apart and start pissing backwards. I think it is just folks that have nothing or have done nothing with the life God gave them. They seem to want to validate them selves through B.S. and bravado.
For the record.
I have never served in the U.S. armed forces.
I did want to be in the U.S.M.C. in the worste way, but just could not get the extra weight off no matter how hard I tried.
I have the HIGHEST respect for those who have and do serve this great nation of ours!
Now I really must be going. I have do do a H.A.L.O. over Trashcanistan and diliver medical supplies and ammo to the Blackwater guys incamped out side a really bad Taliban stronghold before dinner

Funny, just noticed Jerry's post here...should have thought more about it, or he wouldn't have ended up on the wall.

Timberghozt,
Wish you had answered my first post in which I was chastised for being a "shill" and admit I gave no more thought to being an active member with such an irresponsible comment to a new member.
You have all your dux in a row and hopefully I will deal with you and the other fine sounding members I have seen since.
A newbie, I am presently looking for loads for .41 Mag, .44 spec, and .32SW long.
Thanx,
otiac

Just by way of introduction, I'm a 71 year old retiree, spent time in the southwest in my service days, (Texas/New Mexico), where I got into varmint hunting & handloading. My fav's at that time were a Rem model 722 in .244 and, at bit later, a Marlin .222 Rem. that Marlin built on a Little Sako action with a 23" Microgrove barrel. That Marlin was the most accurate rifle I've ever owned, could shoot 1/2" groups @ 100 yds all day long with handloads of 19.2 grains of H4198 under a Sierra 52 grain match king. I later mover to shotgun country, (L.I. NY), got away from rifle shooting.
Retired to VA where a buddy has gotten me into informal pistol benchrest shooting. I'm shooting a contender & back to reloading. Centerfire barrels are 12"ers, in .38 special, an amazing 50 yd performer, and .22 hornet which is an accurate & fun to shoot round at both 50 & 100 yds. I'm looking to step up just a bit & am still enamored with the good old .222 Rem. TC has 14 & 15 " bull barrels available, but I can't find any ballistic data for this barrel length. I know that the .222 does not really perform out of a 10" barrel, I can nearly match it's muzzle velocity with my 12" hornet, so I don't know if a 14" .222 will really meet my expectations. Has anybody any MV data for .222 rem out of a 14 or 15" barrel length?

New to HB. Probably found the site thru CASTBOOLITS. 78 yrs old and one foot on the banana peel. Own a Remington 580 22 cal SS and two lever actions in Win308. One is a Browning BLR (Made in Belgium), and the other is a Win88 (old Model} 1955. Just had my gunsmith fit an inletted stock, then get it refinished. Presently having fun with the 22, trying to coax it into better groups.
Been a handloader and cartridge collector for almost 50 yrs. Thought I knew quite a bit about it, till I recently joined CASTBOOLITS. Did I ever get a rude awakening. I learned more in 2 months there than in many previous years. I got satisfactory answers to all my questions.

welcome aboard amigo !
while it's true that i am a lil biased towards this site castboolits is one of the other few that i consider decent , we share quite a few members ( including myself ) in my humble opinion what makes both sites so great is the people !! that's why i oft say "we thrive on discussion" and it's true ! in fact neither site would work without it so at least here plz dont be shy about jumping in there !! i have learned alot and one of the first things i learned is that here is always more that can be learned ( and some that should be lolz ) both the search feature and the new topic tab works well , thanx for joining us amigo !

Montana, just walk out back and I will swing over in my private chopper and run you over to our secret base. There we get the Black bird fueled up and run across the pond this afternoon. Will slow enough for you to jump and head back. Will open an MRE in flight while holding the joystick with my knees. Let me know when you have done your deed and will have Comsac pick you up. Don't be late for supper.

Well said Timberghozt.
Welcome to all the newbies. This is a great site. There is disagreement here on some topics but all discussions that I have seen have been honest and with respect for each other.
