Hi to all hand loaders and shooters. I found this site when I was doing a little research on the Internet for ballistics information. I was looking at several sites and in one of them there was a link to Handloadersbench.com so I clicked it to see what it was all about. I liked what I saw so decided to register and here I am.
I have been hand loading since 1951 or 1952 (so long ago I am not sure which). My first rifle was a 30-06 which I shot so much I wore out the throat and had to get a new barrel. Then I had a custom 243 made and have worn out that barrel till it no longer shoots 75 gr. bullets within a 5 inch group. But it still shoots 100 gr bullets very well. I reload many calibers and enjoy hunting and target shooting.

AZnative, Welcome to HB. 1951 or 1952? You must have been right on the cutting edge of the reloading hobby. I was born about then and grew up in a small town in WI. There was a guy there that loaded his own for a .222 in the 1960s. He was really respected by some of the local shooters and others thought he was nuts. Looking forward to your input on HB. Rockydog

Thank you for the welcome. I have a question. In my first post there is a red dot just to the right of the ID. I must have hit some button or something to have that there. What is that?
Yes, it was pretty much in the beginning of the hobby. I added a .222 shortly after I started to hand load. I used a Lyman 310 'Nutcracker' tool and it did the job. I used a balance beam scale like the Redding of today and it may have been a Redding. Of course the early scales did not have any dampening like now but they worked as long as you did not let any air movement blow on the pan.
After a few years shooting the .222 I decided I had to have more velocity so I had that rifle (a Remington 722) re chambered to 22 Varminter which as we all know Remington made into a factory cartrige 22-250. It was still a wildcat back then though.

That red dot just means you have posted in that thread. It's noting you clicked on. It does that for everyone.
