Been doing a lot of work around the deer lease to my stands and food plots. Problem is, I've had no rain and things are looking pretty bad for any plants left. So I bit the bullet and made a couple of tube feeders, attached them to some trees, filled them with corn and left a 'block' for them. Setting all that stuff up before the sun came up today really was a wise idea...it got warm again.
Also, put the game camera by the feeder next to my bow stand...I'll be getting on that one on the 1st of Oct, and hope to stick a couple of fat does during bow season. I'll try to remember to bring the camera and take some pictures. Also will do some game camera pictures to keep it interesting.
Hope other's will do the same.....?? Maybe??

Finally got into PhotoBucket! Think I had a cookie problem?
Best group of the day{after doing all the feeding/stand repair/camera hanging}! Rifle was an Armalite AR-30M chambered in .338LM, distance to target was 725 yards! Had four other five shot groups but they were much bigger....

With the Wildview Extreme 4 game camera I'll be seeing this same view:

This was a test to see if the camera will get the area that I'm wanting to view. As the photo shows, I'll be able to see beyond the stand in the background. Food/mineral block is about halfway between the stand and the corn feeder... This is a 'super-highway' for deer traveling through tall(uncut) timber and the new growth(4-year old pine you wouldn't want to go in). There is very little water on the entire lease(as I love to place a stand near water), but that could be a good thing(it keeps the hogs from coming around). Hopefully, next week, there will be 30-ish pictures or so of nice does, and maybe something with a few velvet covered antlered types?
Until next time......

First week of the feeder being out, and corn in it. Only a very small portion was consumed....which can be considered good and bad, as the raccoons haven't found it yet. Only had 14 pictures of the deer camera...all the same deer on 6 different days? Kind of weird, being that I've seen at least 12 different tracks in the ground during a three week period of time. Wife thinks that the bucks are breaking out of the 'group' mentality...
Here's a couple of picture's of a very young deer(1.5yrs my guess) that'll get to walk this year....at least past my stand.

Been out in the heat today building some more feeders. Didn't seem that warm, but I got soaked. Didn't get the paint on the tubes(got to have something to do tomorrow)....
Reason for building two more tubes? Ah.....I enjoy having two feeders per stand location. Keeps me on my toes while bow hunting! Yup, I said it....the reloader that takes the food home with a stick and string! I gun hunt, but only for the kids. Food is put out for the during bow season, but we are not allowed to gun hunt over 'bait'. Deer get use to coming around for the feed, and it's usually gone before muzzle loading/rifle gets under way(if not, I keep it up)....
Hoping for 25 pictures from the bow stand number, and maybe another 15 from the rifle stand(will also try to remember getting some pictures of the rifle stand).

Some new visitors at the bowhunting feeder! Had 196 pictures from last week. Having some issues with this camera though.....big blank area between 8-25 and 8-27(almost like the camera wasn't responding for 48hrs). Should have had another 75-80 pictures from looking at the corn missing during that time?
One picture had 2-8pts, 1-6pt, 2-does, 2-squirrels, 5-raccoons, and 1-possum! I know, where was the turkey......

Had some rain this week at the lease....that's great if your food plot was just planted, don't think mine is gonna make it. Bad news, my Wildview game camera is dying! Something about a capacitor for the power supply....blah, blah, blah(got to replace it).
The other camera was working just fine though!

This is a new one(above), he seems to be sporting a very high rack.....only an eight point though. He'll do, just need to find his girlfriends....they taste better!

Just to let you guys know, there is a dove to the left of the pine tree. I know what your thinking....it's a dove, who cares! Well, if you need a camera that will trigger when the temp is 103*F, this is the one to get!!

Easy enough!
Was thinking all night about that dang ole pig eating everything! Went back today and moved that feeder/block and camera... Last night that camera recorded a spike, a different 8pt, 5 raccoons, and an owl(first one I've ever seen on a game camera of mine)....104 pictures! One night! Yes, it's a 'hot spot', but that pig would put me in the poor house.

Look above his rack!
Put the feeder at the bow stand and reset the game camera for some new action! Only a couple of weeks before bow starts off here(Oct 1st)! Getting excited, as are the kids!
Put a an older Wildview 2 Extreme at my buddies bow hunting stand. He's been getting some action there and wants to know if it's something other then that herd of raccoons that are running around. He's already asked me to get him another dozen arrows with G5 Gameheads(that's my anti-raccoon medicine)! Figuring on being busy the first week of the season thinning out the raccoons? He likes to BBQ them(yuck). I'm thinking about trapping them(new thing for me), and selling them to people that train dogs.

| My suggestion is, put a night vision scope on your TRex pig gun and fill your freezer with pig.

If you want her, let me know! I had to do extra work this last weekend because she's coming around.

Went to the lease yesterday and this morning. Had a raccoon trap set-up, but I guess they have out-smarted this first round! Set the trap up and baited it with some cheap tuna fish. Trap was sprung, but there was no animal to be found? This trap is made out of 1/2" re-bar and wasn't bent or turned over....he had to have had some intelligent help to get out?
The deer have cleaned up there antlers! No more velvet....that's kind of bad for picture taking. They don't really want to be around each other right now! Heads are a little sore, and there are a lot of trees taking a beating.

Put out some extra mineral blocks, and re-filled the tubes for another week!

Serviced all the feeders today, nothing great to report on.... Maybe the trapping of a raccoon will brighten the morning up, or at least show me how he/she is getting out of it. The trap was sprung last weekend, but nothing was inside? Seems my coons have PhD's out there! I have difficulty getting the door open and I have thumbs.
Activity around the feeders have slowed down to a crawl, it might be due to the number of members feeding now....or possibly the 'pressure' of a lot of new people putting up stands? Kind of stinks....putting my stand locations out when I do so that I may have some enjoyable hunting time with my bow, only to be disturbed by modern gun hunters that are just now thinking about getting started. But that is the way leases go....no two people can/will do the same thing at the same time.
Still looking through the pictures(162 off three different cameras), only one jumps out to say, "Look at me!"

He's all cleaned up and ready to trash some trees! Have him posted above with velvet, hopefully one of the kids will be sitting on him come muzzle loader season.... if I can pass the temptation of a nice bow shot?

Trap was sprung! Possum didn't like being in there, anymore then I wanted him in there. Apparently, tuna fish is prefered by possums? Who'd-a-thunk that? Be changing out 'bait' next weekend....maybe catfood of some sort?
I let the little guy go.......

Three game camera's hanging, in two different stand locations....462 pictures between Sunday last and this afternoon. Removed one of the cameras, it's a flash model and would only show other's my intended stand/feeding location....season opens this coming Monday(Oct 1), and I didn't do all the leg work to just let someone get my kids buck(the high rack is gonna be his).
Most of the activity is still during the evening hours, but quite a few more are starting to move during the daylight hours....that's a good thing! Right now it seems that the early morning is prime time! Don't have anything special as far as pictures go this time around, you've seen them all before.
Won't be able to actually hunt until Friday evening/Saturday morning, afternoon, evening/Sunday morning of next week. Taking the wife fishing tomorrow, she deserves it after putting up with me in the pre-season deer feeding!

Got on the stand this morning, it was a very warm morning. That alarm clock sure wasn't a welcomed sound! Got there before the sun came out and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited....
Didn't even see a bird fly by this morning, and by 12pm I was sweating(85*+ and all dressed up), but it was still better then a good day at work! Going out tomorrow, but it's supposed to be hot again.....

This weekend was nice for hunting here(finally). About froze to death in the Jeep for the 1.25hr drive to the lease property, but it was good. Did take the time today to put the top back on.....maybe I've beat the cold season?
Saturday morning was in the upper 40's, and got warm around 2:30pm(think it was lower 80's). The sun came up at 6:55am and got the woods into a buzz! But no animals showed up until 10:30am, and it wasn't quite what I was hoping for. Squirrels! Just a couple, but they made my day none the less. No deer... But it's not about that for me, it'd be nice....but? I have a freezer full of vension already, and would probably pass on anything but a true jawdropper. I felt better when I came out of the woods then I had in a long time!!
Here's what the local wildlife looks like:
He poses pretty like for the camera!

But he doesn't like getting his butt sniffed!

Until next weekend?

I'm so completely stumped!
Not giving up, but I'd like to at least see something! I've spent every morning(until well after noon/1pm) on stands...getting the impression that deer don't ever come out during the day on this lease! Going to throw a curve ball at them tomorrow, going to leave the house at noon-ish, and stay until after dark.

It's been pretty lousy so far this year. Only seen a couple of really small does with fawns during the last weekend of muzzle loading(after dark-too late to shoot).
This weekend is the "Youth Hunt", so it's not about getting something for the freezer, but getting the boy out to at least see something. Could use some help from everyone....pray. Got 160lbs of corn and about 4oz of fresh doe estrus going to be hanging from the trees....but feel free to pray, I'm going to be!
