Guy's/Gal's, this year is all about getting the wife a bow hunt(crossbow to be exact)!
Here's the to-date play-by-play:
Two weeks ago, got the 4-wheeler on the trailer and went to work. Picked up the PlotMaster and headed up to Pottsville, Arkansas. Started out cool enough, but as normal, the temps went up quickly! Six hours of pulling trees(they were small but jeez!), then to figure out the PlotMaster....WOW! This thing is worth every minute of not running a rototiller!!! The picture below will show what 50lbs of oats and a small bag of Tecomate Deer Peas will do....I always over seed!
Went back today, early this morning to see how bad the storms from last week had effected the plot. To our relief...nothing laying in it, and the seeds were sprouting well.
Picture #1: Looking from lower level inside barn. The old hog feeder is 19yards. Later, there will be a corn feeder tied to the hog feeder.

Picture #2: Another view. Old gateway is about 23.5yards.

Picture #3: Boss inspecting my work. This was taken from gateway looking back towrds the barn. Lyn will be sitting on the far left side by the half broken board to watch any action.

She's getting pretty excited already, as there were a LOT of tracks in the area. One has already spiked her interest....3" wide and almost 4" long(big for around here)! She has told me that a little one just won't due.
Scott (hands on hips, I did something wrong) B

One week of extra growth! All kinds of tracks, so I put out the trusted Moultrie i60 to see what is walking around in the 'garden'! Put up some corn feeding tubes to get them to spend a few minutes in front of the camera. I've also noticed that a few days of eating corn will 'inspire' them into eating on the 'garden'.....

After applying the 8-8-8 and some 21-0-0 fertilizer, I had some time to screw down a firm platform for her to sit on inside the barns second floor. Next week I'm planning to throw about 50lbs of granulated lime.
Scott (enjoying this alot) B

thats a great looking set up , how much human traffic goes on around this spot or is it pretty isolated where the deer would see it as a sanctuary?

Meant to do this last weekend, but I got sidetracked.
Pictures are always the best way to start!

The food plot is taking heavy action. I do believe I'm going to have to go after a few diggers...not sure what it is though? Possibly squirrels? Deer are eating the tops off the beans and enjoying a soft resting area in the oats. Somethings never change!
And how about one from the game camera?!?!?!?!?

Have plenty of pictures of this older doe and her twins. Seems they are learning the benefits of eating a better diet. Hopefully in two years, the twins will have taken in plenty of food and put some weight on...then it's freezer time!
Scott (more to come) B

With all the extra time on the weekends, I put up a few lock-on stands on the side of the mountain. I'll be about 1000 feet away from the wife and her stand....
While putting up the stand, had a visitor:

I'll have a pretty nice view:

She did not seem to mind that I was grunting and hoping around(yup, smacked a finger). Something must have had her attention under the American Mullberry bush? Then again, she was another 167 yards up the hill...and I was tired. Maybe next weekend I'll go look.....nah, still have another lock-on to put up.
