AVOID "Bud's Gun Shop" On Gunbroker! BAD DEALER!

------------------------

The following comes from a member of BSB -

------------------------------------------------------------------

Just wanted to let everyone know the results I had from spending $1400.00 on a Weatherby 340 Accumark with "Buds Gun Shop".

The gun was advertised by them as coming with an Accubrake.  I confirmed this with them by phone.  The gun arrived without a brake and their response was "send it back, but we'll charge a 20% restocking fee".  That's almost $300.00 - the brake costs only $150.00 factory installed.

They admit their add was wrong.  Their excuse? Their ads are not always accurate because they post alot of them, I should have known that.  Check out 41432244 and remember - they admit what you see (and read) isn't what you get.

I asked them to reduce the cost by the amount of the factory installed brake - and I'd even pay the shipping to Weatherby to have it done - and they said no.  They offered to drop the 20%, but I'd still be out transfer & other costs - about $75.00.

All I wanted was what they advertised and what I paid for - what could be simpler?

Finally, they wrote an e-mail threatening to change their positive feedback on me to negative if I posted complaint.  Safe to say no more "Buds Gun Shop" for me - ever.

hey guys sorry to dredge up an old post, but i just days ago bought a mossberg 590 from buds gun shop. guns works great but i had to run through hell with gasoline pants on to get the firearm! granted they were pretty cheap on their prices but heck o nobody there knows what's  goin on. i plainly told the feller on the phone a 590 in matt blue about 4 times, what did i get? a plain blue. which i wasnt gonna waite another 8 days to get the gun so i took it. an if anybody is wondering their web site an the store is 2 different things. i found that out after driveing 45 miles one way. was it my fault for not calling ahead probably, but the web site was showing 5 590s so i got cash in hand an the guy says well whats on the internet site cant necessarily  be expected to be found in the store. after scroling bown to the bottom of the page on the web site i seen where it said. looks like to avoid confusion it would be at the top. sorry for the rant but i had to join youre alls opinion on the subject...pk

Hello,

Thanks for the heads up regarding the questionable service of Buds. I was so close to purchasing a handgun when I noticed your situation.

I will make other arrangements.

I just purchased a Springfield XDm .40 from them. It shipped the next day to the FFL place I chose. It was the right gun and it was a great price. I have bought ammo from Bud's too. It was shipped on time, great price, and the right stuff. Sorry to hear about your bad experience. It is important to me not to spend an unfair amount for a firearm. I hate getting ripped off. Bud's policy is that you inspect before delivery and if it is wrong, don't take it, they will refund your money.

umm i just have to question ..how u gonna inspect it before delivery if ur buying online ? end result if i recall correctly is that there are two bud's gun shops , the original that was sold and runs the bad deals and the old owner who now mostly sells to LEO's,there's a couple other threads about this and the BBB reviews i read left a bad taste in my mouth ( That alone is telling me " buyer beware" u may get a good deal and it's quite possible ur gonna get shafted )

Personally I bought a couple of guns from Bud's and I was happy.  They had the best price even after transfer fees etc, on the two guns that I purchased.

Not discounting other's opinions, just adding my own.....

I'm concerned for your problem and BGS but I have had nothing but good experiences with those folks, factually going out of their way to please me.

The other folks jumping on the gutting truck should have a reasonable experience rather than "get the noose."

You may have been in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I find it interesting that quite a few of the guys who have positive things to say about Bud's only have a couple of posts here. One is making his first post.

I'm not saying they're shills. But it does seem a little strange. It would be easy to track "Bud's Gun Shop" on Google and then follow up on the posts.

those who have had different experiences than you have are not necessarily"shills."

there is room still in this country for different opinions isn't there? take a look at there marquee to see how many customers they have had.

Oh, and thanx for the warm welcome.

Read my post. I didn't call anybody a shill. Your defensiveness over a dealer you are allegedly unrelated to seems excessive.

Yes, they have lots of customers. They also have many, many very unsatisfied customers.

sadly their practice of "changing " customer reviews doesnt speak well for their ethics ( or perhaps it speaks of their lack of ? )it does pay to shop around and it also pays to shop for more than just low price tho some may care about nothing but low price (in which case if they read the reviews at any place else where bud's cant change them ) and they get burned they have no one to blame but themself's .........

No shill here, but if someone is going to post a negative comment about a company I've had a positive dealing with, I think it's only fair to provide my point of view and let the purchaser make the ultimate decision.

Yes I did only join the group a couple weeks ago, I found this link from the Loadmastervideos.com site.

If all I read was the negative comments about the Lee Loadmaster from sites like Midway, Cabela's and others, there would be no way I could possibly buy a Loadmaster.  However, I kept an open mind about the Load Master.  I looked for sites with positive information about them and figured out that likely the people who rated the Load Master so poorly probably lacked the wisdom to reload ammo regardless of the press they used.

A press is a tool, it can't compensate for knowledge or skill that you lack, it can only enhance what you have.

I know at least one other person I work with that also had good dealings with Bud's, that's how I found out about them.

I live in San Antonio, so obviously I don't work for them.  I don't know anyone that does work for them.  I found the buying experience from them to be flawless in my case.

So, until I have a bad transaction with them, I cannot possibly report anything negative.

I know relinquish my soapbox.......
