i'm getting my reloading room set up, and over the past year have acquired two presses. one of them is a herter's press, which requires either an adapter shell holder or herters' proprietary shell holders.

specifically i'm looking for herters shell holders, #2 (.30/30) and #21 (.7x57, .308, .280).

a herter's shell holder adapter, if available, would also be something i would be interested in.

if anyone has any of these laying around, send me a PM or respond to this post.

p.s. - i am also a collector of ANYTHING herter's, so if you simply have anything you want to get rid of, let me know!

the other press is a C-H press, and asa far as i know, my lee shell holders should have no trouble there!

The only thing Herters I have is a can of case hardener and the Herters book on how to make homemade wine.

I think I remember a friend of mine saying he had the universal Herters shell holder, I'll email him and see if what I remember is true.

i think a lot more herters presses would be used if shellholders were more readily avaliable.dad has a press that he replaced his truline jr with in the late 50's.i think it is a super 81 or something.it has 2 rams,or stations.it is a beefy dude at that.it would be nice if someone had an adapter to use the standard shellholders of today.

wheezer -

midwayUSA does sell an adapter that will allow "regular" shell holders to be used. i will order it if i ahve to, but being a history buff and bit of a herters fan i was hoping i might have the opportunity to get the herters shellholders from somewhere. ebay lists them now and then but the shipping is usually terrible!

CH/4D has the converters from Herters press (and CH presses for that matter) to RCBS shellholders.  Think they were around $10 a few years ago when I got mine.  Web page is http://www.ch4d.com (I think, at work and it's blocked).  They're real nice people to deal with.

I asked my friend if he was the one that had the Herters universal shell holder. He said I must have him confused with someone else.

Sorry.

I've got an old herters press and a bunch of dies including 30-30 dies.  Sorry I didn't find out about this site sooner.  If your looking for some more stuff let me know.  I don't have them with me now because I moved.  The ones that I remember are 30-30, 30-06, 308, 270?, 222,and maybe one or two more.

Day late and $1 short but Buffalo Arms sells an adapter for Herters presses that allows use of the RCBS shell holders.

https://www.buffaloarms.com

PN# 4DHertersSH for the princely sum of $17.25 as of 2008...

Picked one up for my Herters press for the same reason as the original poster, i.e. tracking down the older Herters holders is a pain...

D.
