35 grains bluedot
1 1/4 oz of steel
remmington shells
any steel wads
velocity is 1450 fps
federal 209 primers
this load is plenty to kill medium-large ducks out to 55 yards with a modified choke
3 weeks ago I killed a bluebill at what I thought was 60 yards(so it was probably 40)
the news guy said 45 mph winds. so i know it works

if you want them to work when it is cold switch to steel powder.
blue dot don't like the cold and gets erratic.

How cold? Reason I ask is I have been shooting Blue dot in various loads for years and never had a problem, and I've been shooting in some cold temperatures!!!

bout anytime it gets below 30 if you can keep them in your pocket it doesn't seem too bad.
we used to go out and lay on the ice and shoot geese back when you could still use regular old cheap and effectve shot.
and you could hear the diff in velocities, i learned to keep my shells in an inside pocket pretty quick.
steel is an awesome powder but it don't meter worth a damn.

Guess I've just been lucky....I've been hunting with Blue dot WAAAYYY below 30 degrees and never had issues.
I do agree with your sentiments about STEEL.....love it for hevishot and steel reloading.
