Hello Folks,  New to the Bench.

My son just got a new Weatherby 30-378 , and is in need of some of the better hunting loads.  He will be mostly hunting elk.

The load i use is 104 grains of retumbo cci mag primers and 200 grain nosler accubonds. It is seated to the max length listed in the book.  This load flattened a elk for me this year at 485 yards.. She tipped over and never got back up.  It is very accurate out of my gun three rounds you can cover with a dime at 50 yards. THis is close to a max load so be careful.  It also works good in my buddies gun.  Both are weatherby mark V. Stainless fluted barrels with synthtic stocks and leupold scopes. Hope this helps. Pat

Thanks a bunch for  the load data.  I know he will want to try several loads to find out what works the best in his gun.

I have also used the same bullets and primers lenght but switch to 112 grains of 50 bmg. That load shot good but not quite as good as the retumbo.  It is also near a max load according to the book.  So treat it accordingly. Hope this helps.
