I'm working on this 6.5 x 47 Lapua project for the first time. I have an Savage action/stock, and a barrel in the works and on its way within a few weeks. My dilemma is for a load that will take me out to a 1000 yards, and be accurate. Any ideas will be welcome. RDELast edited on Sun Aug 16th, 2009 08:57 AM by RWD

Just wondering with out going up in the mountains ,where in Seattle are you able to shoot 1000 yrds.
The longest range I can find is plantation up in whatcom co. and it only goes to 300 yrds

This is totally a new area for me. I belong to the Kenmore Gun Range There are members who with the owner of Benchmark Barrels shoot 1000 yds. plus. If I herd correctly, they shoot in the canyons somewhere within our Cascade Mountain range. I was hoping to find a military complex that would have 1k yds, and allow me to shoot. But so far that isn't going to happen. RDE Last edited on Sun Aug 16th, 2009 05:01 PM by RWD

the 6 br pages have lots of info. excellent source, a google search will get you lots of possibilities as well. that is what I did when I first started working up my6.5 x 47. I shoot mine F class open from 300 to 1000yds. I am shooting the sierra match king 140 over 37 gr of RL 15. H 4350 is another good powder for this cartridge. Also with 37 gr with this bullet. near max load for my rifle.I had really good results with the Lapua Scenar `123 gr over 38 gr of Rl 15, of course the heavier bullet gives me a better bc for the long range wind battle. I also point my bullets with the Whiden Bullet pointer system. I am shooting a savage target action/ Schillen BBl on a Competition Shooting Stuff stock. The S1. Have fun and enjoy what I think is a great long range cartridge. http://www.competitionshootingstuff.com/id13.html( link to stock. a photo of my rifle in the pics area of Gary's site,

My friend shoots a 6.5x 47 Lapua very well at 900 meters watch him shoot 73 of 75 points with 8v bulls on new F class target, he told me he couldn't get 140s going fast enough, he uses Rl 15 and 130gr Bergers near top end load.

The 140g Berger and SMK are very popular here in the southwest in this caliber. The 140 is a little better in the wind and you have that additional bullet length as the chamber lengthens. No question the 130 berger is a great bullet in that rifle. It is my go to bullet in my 6.5 creedmore.
