Some of you may or may not know, but I do the Archery thing for a living.  Not my own shop, but it's still 'mine' in every sense of the word.  Success or failure, it all falls on me.....  My customers know that I do everything possible to see them succeed....and that is my goal.

I'm already getting the feeling that with the reduced amount of ammunition sitting on the shelves, and the price on what is available people will look for something else.  I forsee the 'masses' jumping into the bow hunting community!  Be it with a crossbow, or with something that requires daily practice....

Sent my manager to the Archery University(BowTech in Eugene, OR) this year to get better equiped on what I'm going to be needing in order to elevate to the top 10 in the company(I'm currently #14 out of 121 stores----I started at #86 two years ago).

What does this topic have to do with anyone reading it?  Simple, if your thinking about getting into archery as another method to stay in the field longer or just getting closer to your target animal....you should do so early!  Tomorrow is just around the corner......don't wait!  Go look at some of the new stuff out there.....

Scott I used to be a big time bow hunter,  loved the getting close to the game and making the shot sometimes bad shots because they "jump" the arrow.  But have not done it in yrs.  I cant find anyone who will build my arrows to my specs. for a decent price.  Everything has changed in the last 15 to 20 yrs .... graphite arrows are about all I see and I cant get anyone to cut my length on alluminum.  Can you help? and if so Ship what I need to get back up to par?  I can PM or email you the exact specs I need.

Kev

I also need some info. Ive beem fletching my arrows the way granddaddy showed me. Usually turkey or sea gull feathers.  I cant find a good adhesive for carbon fibre arrows. The stuff I use on the gamegetters or wood dont do it. After a few shots they start peeling off.Any sugestions.  I currently use a cheap plumbers cement.goop I think. I know that not pro stuff, but I can put aluminum arrows through targets all the way and the fletching will stay, any help would be apreciated.

We stock a full line of carbon, but the aluminum does not sell.  Seems everyone wants the faster, smaller arrows?  I know some people that are still hanging on with the aluminum stuff though....what are you needing?  I'll see what I can find.

I use the Pine Ridge Archery glue for fletching.  But it doesn't end there....  The shafts must be prepped properly!  Remove the old fletching, sand the shaft with 800 grit, clean with a non-toxic cleaner, and then let dry completely.  Select your fletch and do what you normally do.  You only need a very small amount of this glue!  It'll set up in about 30 seconds(you can then remove the jig).  You need to take the tip of the glue stem, and get a very small drop to form....place this small droplet on the tip of the fletch.  Allow the glue to completely dry for about 24hrs....then shoot the crap out of them!

Gorilla Glue....tried it, but really didn't like the way it does!  Your mileage may vary of course, and if it works for you....cool!

Where to begin?

Guess the question could be asked...who do I stay away from?  It'd be a shorter answer.  Most every xbow I've seen coming through the store is under 200# draw weight(thank God above for small favors), and the truth be known....you don't need that much draw weight anyway.  The draw length is more important!

Eastman crossbows are having problems....seen a few of them come back with broken barrels and forearm pieces.

Barnett was having problems with a few of their 'top-end' xbows...the limbs were coming apart.

Everyone else seems to be having an "A" game year though.

Personally....the wife is shooting a TenPoint TL-7 Titan.  Dead-nuts on targets out to 45yds!!!
