As some of ya'll may or may not know, I work as an Archery Tech. for GanderMtn in Sherwood, Arkansas.  I have been in charge of the area for over three years and enjoyed every moment of it....until about two months ago.  The store is now under new management, at store level, and things have happened to make me re-think my being able to complete the job in the manner at which I've been known to do.

I stepped down last week to part-time.  And the the manager is doing everything possible to make life there miserable.  This next week I've been scheduled for only 8hrs, and the same for the week after.

I just finished typing my letter of resignation....it was somewhat difficult to do, but I don't want this job to effect my family and our way of life.  I've had a good time working with just about everyone that has come and gone in the past few years, and I hope them all the best.

As far as everyone in the forums that may need any help from me in this field, I'll still be keeping up-to-date in the latest developments.  I'll try my best to give reasonable advise, or possibly help someone do their own work....it's not that hard, really!

Scott (it was a good run) B

Sorry to hear that indeed. Sometimes regime change is very tough to swallow. I've been there, I wish you luck.

Scott, a buddy opened an archery range in an empty chicken house. He is doing well, has competitions, and has a sales office up front. wc

No extra deer hunting, although I normally get just about all I want.

Had a phone interview on Friday morning, and now I need to go in for a "Computer Test" on Monday morning at 9am.  I don't like to be without work for very long!

Update:  Found out via a friend that my employment has been terminated.  But apparently the new manager doesn't have the balls to call and tell me?  So, with that bit of information, I can gladly go to the unemployment office and get plenty of income!  Seems the new boss doesn't know enough to let the sleeping dog lie....might call the Dept of Labor on Monday and report a few EoE violations.

Scott (something about a sleeping gaint) B

Scott, I know that it is no consolation, but I have found several times in my working career, that when a new manager appears, all bets are off. In other words, "A new broom sweeps clean". It usually doesn't mean a thing that you are doing your job well. Hell, maybe his brother-in-law wanted your job.

It's easy for me to tell you to look at the bright side... Yeah, right!!

One way to look at the situation: it offers opportunities for new employment.... Come to think of it, that last statement is rather obvious!!  I am trying to say that a better job is coming.

I won't say good luck because we, each of us, makes our own luck, I believe..

Hang in there, better days are just over the horizon.

Best of luck to you.  Hope you stay in archery.  Just came back from my first bow hunt.  A nephew got a 4X4 elk with a bow.  I did not hunt, tagged along.  Looking at trying for it next year.  Have a lot to learn as I do not do bow but getting excited about it.

So, is he promoting/selling Chicken Feather fletching???:lol:

just a shot at levity here...

Scott one good way to find another opportunity is word of mouth (there is a $5 word for this idea but can't remember it) ie talk with people about what you want to do and ....huh ah......NETWORKING is the word, just came to me.  Net Work....keep in contact in the trade and let the word spread and follow any leads that will come because of that.  Former customers can be good for the networking if you want to stay in the same line of work.  Also in your case so can former suppliers of the items you were selling/working with etc.  Make some LUCK.
