Anybody out there cast this bullet besides me?? I know that it does not appear in the Lyman lineup these days and that's a shame.
Cast from W-W and sized .309", lubed w/Lyman Orange Magic works very well in my 30-06 M70..
Some years ago Jim Carmichel had an article in the Handloader (or Rifle-don't recall) where he advocated the use of slow powder like H4831. Used to use his loads without any problems.
I've shot some deer, and have seen some shot with this combo - Didn't have to track any...

I am currently using a Lyman 314299 that I really like. I can use it for my oversize MN44 or my tight 1903A3. I size to .314" for the MN44 and .310" for the Remington 1903A3.
I use wheel wieghts and water quench them for hardness. The minor diameter of this bullets with wheel weights is .303"

I use a Ranch Dog 165 grain mold, with WWs, sized to .311 and what ever load for which rifle I pick to hunt with.
This bullet is best used in a Marlin 336 in 30-30, but it really makes my Spanish FR8 shine. Old well loved rifles still have a life in their surplus retirements.
I have been casting for nearly 40 years and I am always trying new molds and loads.

hello, about twenty years ago I used this bullet out of an old Ideal single cavity in .30-40 krag. is your bullet tapered, or multi dia.? on mine, the first 3 bands behind ogive are bore dia., bands gradually larger dia. to full dia. last two bands. shot very well with 18.5grs. IMR4227. How far have you shot yours? There is a match this sept. in Muskegon, Mi called "Kangaroo Cup"...300yds. prone with cast bullets, thinking of taking the old 98' krag. If I increase charge very much, groups open..this is at 100yds. do you think I should keep this load, or go to slower powder for more velocity? thanks

Good morning .22-13-45, (wonder how many know what your handle means?), I've never used #311467 for target as such.. Just sight-in for hunting.. My mould casts a straight diameter bullet, which I size to .309" for use in 30-06. Usually #2 Lyman alloy or wheel weights... I lube all the grooves with Lyman's Orange Magic, and find this helps my accuracy.
You might try a slower powder like A-5744 or 4198 - should work well..
Good luck at the match..
