Anybody out there cast this bullet besides me?? I know that it does not appear in the Lyman lineup these days and that's a shame.
Cast from W-W and sized .309", lubed w/Lyman Orange Magic works very well in my 30-06 M70..
Some years ago Jim Carmichel had an article in the Handloader (or Rifle-don't recall) where he advocated the use of slow powder like H4831. Used to use his loads without any problems.
I've shot some deer, and have seen some shot with this combo - Didn't have to track any...

I am currently using a Lyman 314299 that I really like. I can use it for my oversize MN44 or my tight 1903A3. I size to .314" for the MN44 and .310" for the Remington 1903A3.
I use wheel wieghts and water quench them for hardness. The minor diameter of this bullets with wheel weights is .303"

I use a Ranch Dog 165 grain mold, with WWs, sized to .311 and what ever load for which rifle I pick to hunt with.
This bullet is best used in a Marlin 336 in 30-30, but it really makes my Spanish FR8 shine. Old well loved rifles still have a life in their surplus retirements.
I have been casting for nearly 40 years and I am always trying new molds and loads.
