I'm shocked by it! November iissue of Guns has an article on casting by Mike Venturino that actually tells folks that bullet FIT is more important than bullet HARDNESS. Never thought I'd live long enough to see such a thing!

Outside of the 'net, (castboolits, here, and a few other sites), you don't see such.

I was surprised by that also. So now we all need to get several sets of bullet sizer in .001 increments.

Revolver shooters, slug the throats on your cylinder. Match your bullet size to your cylinder. If your measurement is smaller than bore size, needs fixing. If your measurement is larger than standard, needs fatter bullets. A snug fit here will start the bullet straight. I am paraphasing Ross Seyfried, I think?

A fiendly dentist had trouble with his mod. 25 S&W. Bullets off the shelf grouped all over the paper. I suggested he find the diameter of his cylinder. After making an impression of the same, we found his thoats were .453/.454. Any time he used .451/.452 bullets his accuracy suffered. He now casts his own, and groups 1.25" at 25 yds.

Charley, I'm almost sure that Mike has said this in print before in Handloader. If he didn't then perhaps it was Brian Pearce. Handloader is the only magazine I buy with any regularity, mainly because of these two guys. Can I find some of this stuff elsewhere? yup. But sometimes it's just entertaining to read a well turned sentence or story related to the topic at hand. Rockydog
