Being new to reloading (maybe 2000 rounds), I'd like to find a spreadsheet to keep for all of my reload data.

I am currently using a three-ring notebook and hand write in the data for each reload. I have them tabbed by caliber.

It would seem that there must be a template for such for Excel, etc.

Does anyone know of one or created one that they would be willing to share?

Thanks,

Jeff

You might want to download and use "open Office" it is compatible with Excel and is an open source suite that is free.
Are you looking for just a list with columns for data?

What kind of layout are you looking for?

A simple spreadsheet is quick and easy to set up.

If you want , you could scan your hand written one and send to me in a PM and I could look at what you are looking for.

I have one you can look at and use if you like it. It doesn;t perform any mathematical calculations, it's just a log, but it puts everything there where you can see it.

It is 73kb in size. It has load data for 3 calibers (22-250, 25-06, and 30-06)and is currently setup fr one more (.44mag) that I'll be reloading when the dies arrive. A tab (say: 22-250) can be copied and then changed to your caliber. Then the data can be removed and yours inserted.

Send me your email address if you'd like to see it.

Cyberguy, the spreadsheet is from MS Office 2007. It saves the spreadsheets in .XLSX form. I could maybe save it in XLS form and send it to you. Send me your email.

I've been loading 25-06 since March, and I have several developed loads for 75, 90, 115, and 120gr bullets, mostly Sierras but some Noslers, Speers, and Hornadys too. They're all in that spreadsheet so you can see them all.

Smacks, I'm going to go out on a limb here and take a guess: the OP is probably capable of making his own, but might want some ideas so he can pull from this one and that one, and maybe a little from that one. He's probably like to see your Word doc. Incidently, I also started in Word, making 4 loading labels per page. But it became cumbersome when I wanted to go back and review in order to set a foundation for trying a new load or something. That's the only reason I switched to Excel.

I just found this on another forum. It was
http://forums.outdoorsdirectory.com/showthread.php?t=36

The actual spreadsheet is listed at http://westernsafellc.com/Reloading.xls

This looks like a very comprehensive sheet, with costing and all sorts of things. I did download it , but have not completely checked it out...Just a word of caution spreadsheets can and sometimes do harbor viruses. Best to scan anything you download. It is not always the person posting that does it, quite often it is plugged in by someone other than the author or poster.

Is that the one that has the calculator/converter on one of the tabs? If so, I downloaded it too awhile back. Not bad and kind of interesting.

Mine doesn't do any of that. It's for data only, with a Notes column so you can annotate for each load. It's categorized per bullet type and weight, since each needs it's own developed load.

Stretch, Yes, it is.

But it all appears to be locked. It says it is open, but when I downloaded it, it was locked. It maybe that my MS Office 2007 is a trial version nearly ready to quit on me. I have no intention of buying it at the price they are asking for it. So it may have something to do with that.

It does look like a good application.

I did buy "shoot" a while back which is a ballistics program and load data database. It looks like it will do all I want, but i am always interested in computer aps.

Have a good 'un and thanks for the email...I will check it out later on....my dial up takes forever to get something in.

Open Office is free:

http://www.openoffice.org/

It does almost everything that MS Office does, maybe more.

Thanks Jerry....I have it. Had to buy the disk...was going to take like 10 hours to download...

I just installed my old Office 2000 and all is good.

I tell people all the time about open office. I haven't used it much because in the past I always had MS Office. But , if i was to develop a data base or spreadsheet for general use by lots of people, I would use OO for sure and include it with the app.
Thanks again, Guy

Based on Excel basic spread sheet, I keep a log of each caliber I load.

Each page (sheet, whatever they are officially) is a different caliber.
There are columns for case, type or manufacturer; primer, manufacturer and type; powder, ID and charge weight; bullet weight, manufacturer and type.  Next column is from where the loading data came (loading book, website, internet rumor, hatched it up on my own).

Then I have columns for predicted velocity (from loading book) and velocity from chronograph.

Finally, a remarks column for accuracy results, recoil notations, whatever seems to be good or bad about the results.

In the same workbook, but on separate page, I have an note page.  It has the basic load information for ONE LOAD at the top of the page, and then spaces to record velocity measurements.  In the workbook in the computer, I can run numbers to determine average velocity, high and low velocities, spread and standard deviation in velocities.
By printing out the page, I put it in the ammo box so I know the load, and I can keep track of velocities and any other notes I find appropriate; like "Good group", "Rotten day at range" or "Blew out topstrap, back off two tenths."

I don't think it will show up as an attachment, but contact me by PM and I'll see about sending it directly.  All free, just tell everyone what a genius I am.  (Me and Wiley Coyote.)

Oh.  Arrange back up files.  My computer crashed this summer and I lost a lot of information.

:crybaby:

Dale, that is very close to what I have. Like there's a lot of difference in your loading philosophy and mine.
