If you get an out of spec mold from Lee, please let me know about it before returning it.
With my little casting business we try to have molds on hand for those who have strange cartridges.
I am willing to pay what you pay for them, plus the S/H
Thanks,
Jerry

lolz i wont take this and run with it [dratz] but .... we had a member who ordered a 125 357 i believe and it cast large , too large supposedly for what it was for but ...( love that word ..oh and if )this particular mold would of fit a few other things ,it's prolly in lee's junk bin atm and they are a lil behind and our friend is umm gritting his teeth and trying to hold on for them to make it right ,my take on it is if there's another application that a mold can be used for ( as opposed to what it was intended for )jerry's offer leaves the original owner reimbursed with cash in hand as opposed to waiting for 3-4 weeks ( or more ) to be without a mold or cash ( umm "but"the above are just my ramblings lolz )

bore diameter in older rifles very alot sometimes strange molds are nice to have around. If difference is very slight the lube/sizer die with take care of the rest. If there to small any decent garage machinest can open them up some.

Don't bother opening up Lee molds. They are easy to lap out, but Beagleing is easier.

Because of where I live, I run into a lot of folks that have well loved rifles and pistols.
One older gentleman, nearing 80, that had a Sears (made by Savage, I think) 30-06, that his father bought way back when. That the bored was not anything like you would believe, like .311. It was .325. No lands and grovves left, but he loves that rifle. It took an odd ball mold for me to cast him up a couple hundred bullets and then I had to have a new sizing die made for my Star sizer to make those bullets work. BTW it was a Lee mold I found at an estate sale for $5.00
So I buy these odd molds when I can, many times I loose money on some of these deals, but a lot of people are happy with my deals that I can make for them.
As with life, if I can a few bucks to support my hobbies, I do that, but I also try to give people deals, much better than most stores will.
If we don't stick together, we may loose our toys.

I own a small machine shop, I will do some lap work on Lyman and similar molds, but Lee molds get screwed up no matter how hard you try to be careful.
BTW Lapping is not something you can take up in an afternoon, it is an art and a science. I have many different grits and polishes for doing this work, and there are a few reminders of what you should not do, still sitting around the shop. Some day, I will salvage some of the parts and recycle the rest. Lapping can be difficult at times and with the exact same subject it can be easier or harder.

Not to be contrary but I've several Lee mold that refused to drop. I've not really lapped them but I taken a cast with a screw inserted from the offending mold added some Barkeepers Friend to the cavity with the cast and after a few turns it starts behaving just fine. This is not lapping to open it up just standard Leementing.

daboone,
I do agree with doing that, but I recommend the car polish/"white rouge" that lets you do a very little light surface removal type of buff.

Jerry, I guess I somewhat started this with the Lee 358-125 mold I returned to Lee a couple of weeks ago because it was too large. Sorry I didn't know you or anyone might want an oversized mold. I will know next time.
The boolits were so large, they would not easily fit into the case or chamber if they did. Special resizing may have had to be done........???????
PS: I have called Lee 3 times and haven't gotten my mold replaced yet. Seems they run in cycles and I had to simply wait for them to get back in this mold.
It is a hard pill to take when I got the mold brand new and then had to return it and then wait for weeks to get it replaced. Hopefully they will get one back to me shortly.

KY,
Lee is way behind on it's orders, just like many other companies. I am way behind on my casting at the moment, but I will take time to cast some "special" bullets for friends and forum members, even then there is a delay. What I mean by "special" are bullets for over sized bores, undersized bores, specialty guns like the JDJ cartridges and some antique calibers.
I try to add molds to the collection as much as I can, some molds get used once a year, other are used weekly. I try to cast all the same diameters as much as I can. This leaves the sizer setup, because when I make a change it may change the quality of the bullets I cast.
But currently, I have the Flu, so does Becky, Kent and David, my workers. So nothing is getting done at the moment, I don't make people work when they are sick, plus Kent and David are both in high school.
Because I try to kept up with finding and buying molds, we have molds from .224 45 grain thru .600 1,050 grain. Some of these are bullets that are for cartridges that aren't made any more, but work great in other cartridges. Here is a good example, I have a Lyman mold for .358 bulllet that is 214 grains in weight. It was designed for the 357 Maximum revolvers that are no longer made. But T/C made a contender that shoots the Maximum cartridge and I found they work great in 35 Remington.
This is why I buy these molds when I can. One companies mistakes is my solution for some guns.

Jerry, thanks for the note. I appreciate your use of and developing an inventory for unique sized castings. This should be a niche' market I would think.
Hope you and your gang get feeling better and good luck on the business.

I fixed the Lee mould problem at my house many years ago. I have a Lee mould recepticle just outside the garage door. It rolls to the street twice a week.
Best,
Ed
