AA9 wont get you the top velocities but should get you to the mid range easily.Being a double base ball dont use it for light loads.I think 16 grains should get close to 1200 fps and 40 thou psi.Anyone else? Last edited on Tue Nov 3rd, 2009 11:18 PM by wheezengeezer

Just downloaded their loading manual.
Accurate does not show any loadings for 500S&W with a 500 gr bullet. 325gr to 440 gr, yes, 500, no.
Pwdr / bullet data / start / maximum / max press / OAL
Lead bullet
No. 9 / 440gr CP WFNGC / 27.0 1,325 / 30.5 1,490 / 56,000 / 2.020
Jacketed
No. 9 / 400 SIE JSP / 31.0 1,490 / 4.5 1,670 / 57,500 / 2.060
The best I can do for ya.
4100 gets best velocity.
Too bad you aren't close, I have some 1680 to get rid of. LOL (under a pound).

This cartridge was designed for an overwhelming fire power roll. The most effective powders are H110/296. With what you have on hand, if the bullets are gas checked, you can start with 25 grains of Number 9 powder and slowly work your way up to maybe 28 grains as your MAX load. But this is not my data, so all disclaimers do apply to this situation.
