I called my local shop yesterday to see if they had primers and the cost. They had mag-pistol primers at $40 / 1000

Is this normal now??

What is the cost for sm rifle and small pistol around the country in your "neck of the woods?

Cabelas here in FT Worth Tx has been getting a lot more primers. Remington 7 1/2 and CCI 400 SR primers were around $33 bucks. However my local range (Alpine) is trying to sell the Rem 7 1/2's for $65 bucks and CCI 400's for $45.

My local Gander here in NC is selling them for $4.99/100. They don't do case prices but they have a lot in stock. Another shop is selling cases for $45-55.

I will not pay those prices. My favorite store just got a shipment in and they are selling all types for $33 per box, which is very reasonable to me. Just bought some CCI No 41 and CCI SP mag, they have lots of Fiocchi small rifle in as well.

Just got a flyer from Bass Pro Shops advertising Remington 209 shotgun primers @ $7.99/100..

The local Sportsmans Warehouse doesn't have any rifle or pistol..

My latest Natchez flyer has none of any kind.

These days I just buy primers if the price is between $35 and $40 a thousand. If spend the gas and the time to shop around, I waste the difference on shopping instead of shooting.

I see lots of 209s around but not certain brands. Rem STS are hard to find and always expensive when I do find them. I can get Fio 616 right now for $24 a box so I've been using those, saving the good stuff for....I dunno, nuclear winter or something.

Wally-World in T'ville, NC has them for 3.49/100. But they have a 9x11 sign over the reloading stuff in bold letters that limits all reloading purchases to 6 items per customer per day. They're only putting two or three of everything out so you have to ask for the limit of 6 and buy it at the sporting goods counter.

That's the only Wal-Mart I know of that does reloading stuff.

Dragon88 is that the Gander in Mooresville?

I don't figure they will for much longer. With supply what it is the next time they do a square footage analysis it will probably be killed off. They've got plenty of powders and bullets, not brass or primers. They even had bags of shot and shot shell reloaders from MEC. They had about 10,000 winchester shotgun primers, too.
