Local man put a digital camera on Craig's List for sale...buyer wanted to meet him in a parking area behind a resturant. Seller drove to the site, and was met by three people, including the original contactor. They walked up to the car of the seller, demanded the camera, and the "buyer" flashed a handgun. Seller not only flashed his, he openly showed his, and showed what came out of the muzzle. 'Buyer" was hit twice in the leg, and put down, other two guys left rather quickly, but were caught by SAPD the next day. Shooter had a Texas CHL, and was absolutely correct in his actions, aside from meeting in a not very well traveled location. Local media is finaly stating the seller had a CHL and was legaly carrying a weapon. Pretty poor reporting. Most times the local media is pretty good about legal weapons, this time it is a bit surprising.

Moral of the story? Don't meet strangers in out of the way locations, and practice enough to shoot center of mass, not extremities!

Have met some strange people but they were "covered" from afar. Thankfully all my experiences have been pleasant and have made friends, wc

Funny comments.

"Now we know why it's called I HOP.", yea, "IHOP over to Cracker Barrel." LOL

I'm getting somewhat notorious at my IDPA matches, and I think it's humerous.
Firstly, I'm not really in it so much for the competition to score the highest, for me it's practical CCW practice. When the targets get close (anything under about 7 yards is a given, sometimes, farther, if I feel like it, just because), you can almost be certain that I will switch over from throwing slugs at the 9" upper chest ring to the 6" square or so head. It slows my times down, thus hurts my scores, because of extra secconds concentrating on the sights, but, again, I'm not primarilly there to outshoot everyone in my class and clasification, I'm there having fun.
When I get back to going to the big regional and national matches, I'll play more seriously for speed times.

When the head shots get required at times, some folks look at it and go "oh oh, that's gonna be tough", I just go, "OK".

crazy ...but ,unlike lot's of folks supposin the guy didnt want to live with the thought of killing someone when they didnt have to be killed ? and he used just enough force to end the situation without overdoing it ,after all he could of popped the co-conspirators as well yet didnt , i have to agree that dead folks dont sue ..tho their kin mite try ...i doubt this guy will try to sue and if he does any judge that hears the case should throw it out or be debarred..

Very tough to sue in Texas when you are hurt commiting a criminal act.

To me, the issue over hitting him in the leg is the BG had a weapon, flashed it, and apparently still had it after going down. I wouldn't have risked it, if it was done on purpose. Wounded animals with teeth are still dangerous, as long as they are alive and have opportunity.
