Is the 887 have the same insides as the 870? What is your opion of the gun?
Is it worth the mid $300.00 range that they are going for? Any input will help.

I have mixed feeling about this shotgun, I have looked at them and not impressed with the plastic finish on it. But I know the prices seem to be from about $370 to $475 NIB at GunBorker.
For a 12 gauge 3.5 inch NIB, it is not a bad price.

An issue of American Rifleman from earlier this year had a very positive review of the 887. I handled one at a store at it seemed...interesting. Quite light in feel, more bulky than an 870 due to the "armor" but overall pretty good. If I had a use for a shotgun in wet, adverse conditions I would certainly buy one at that price point.

I don't know anything about the 887, but it looks........well, cheap! Kind of like the 710 rifle that got good reviews, but didn't really pan out in the real world.
I know that manufacturers have to turn to plastics & polymers to keep prices down and make things look 'modern', but plastic BREAKS.......I'll take wood & steel over it any time.
And if this gun is as light as some folks say it is, I'm willing to bet that with a 3.5" shell it will kick like a Missouri mule with a bad attitude!
Personally, I think I would stick with the 870 (regular or express, depending on budgetary concerns).......the gun (870) hasn't been around as long as it has for nothing!
Just MHO...............

Thanks guys, Just looking in it for a friend. I have a 870, Had it for a good many years. My friend is looking to buy a pump for duck hunting, He is giving up on autos. Too many problems over the years. I will tell him to go with the 870.

He can't go wrong with a BPS for foul-weathered shooting, but, he'll pay for that buck-embelem.
The bottom feed/eject sure keeps water-based stuff falling from the sky out of the action.
I bought one for Geese a few years ago, 10-gauge. Works flawlessly, but, cost me $600 NIB.
