I'm looking for what anyone uses for their Garand, with 150 Gr. bullets.
I have some H4895 to try out.
I Shot up some LC 68/68, so those are the cases I'll be using.

Back in the mid 1970s when I was doing custom reloading, I did an order for a fellow for his M-1 Garand using the 150 gr. Sierra Pro-hunter and 47.0 gr. of IMR-4895. IIRC, his brass was once fired LC51. I loaded up one box for him to try. He said they shot to point of aim in his rifle, so I loaded up the rest of his 500 round order. I think that that same charge with H-4895 should work just fine. You might want to try 46.0 gr. first and work up.

This is a link for M1 Loads that i think were released by the NRA in the 80s. Read carefully though these are for commercial brass not milspec brass. According to this 47 should be ok since it is 2 grains under. When loading for the Garand just always keep in mind that to much pressure can bend your operating rod if its slamming it to hard. I use 48 grains of IMR 4895 with 152 grain Flat base FMJs in commercial brass. Though the H and the Imr they show as parallel in loads i dont know how true this is so take it for what it is worth i guess.

My new-2-me Hornady manual has a separate '06 section for M1 Garand loads.
150 grain A-max or their BT-FMJ advise 43.2 to 46.4 grains H4895, atop WLR primers.
This was in their cases, since you have GI cases (I am going to make an assumption for safety that they will be like my 7.62 NATO cases, slightly thicker, smaller inside diameter than civ. cases are) I would drop a grain or 2 from the bottom and climb the ladder back up, unless someone has some of both and can compare.
Every civ. 308 case I have is an average of 10 to 15 grains lighter than every single GI .308 case I have. 170 to 177 grains against 180 to 190 grains each, fired, cleaned, deprimed, trimmed.

Thanks for the info guys, It's pretty much what I expected, as I have searched around.
I'm looking to duplicate M2 ball(2750/fps@78 ft from the muzzle). That should be about 2800 fps, or so, 10 ft from the muzzle. I have an Oehler 43 chrono., so it's all good.
I kind of think I'll start at 45 gr. and go up from there.
I picked up an all H&R Garand, to go with my Reising, last year, and we do a "Battle of the Bulge" shoot every Jan at our club, so I'm trying to get ready.
The 68/69 LC was de-linked/ball powder CRAP. It had an ES. of over 200 fps in the 10 rds I sent over the chrono. I'm just trying to get some cheap, consistant ammo.

The way I understand it, it's the Pressure curve that can cause the OP rod to bend. H4895, in the PROPER loads shouldn't be a problem.

The upper end of the loads I posted, according to Hornady, are 2600 fps ballpark.
They show getting 2750 using 46.4gr (max) of H335 or 47.9gr (max) of Vihtavouri N-135, fastest loads they show.
So, if the chrono is a heartbreaker, you may have to switch powders.
Now, I never chronographed a batch of De-linked 7.62 NATO machine gun Ball I bought @ a gun show once (for the brass, and I need to buy some more  ), so I have no idea what the velocities were, BUT, my BAR loved the stuff. all 5 rounds at 100 yards indoors went into an inverted V, with each round actually cutting into the round above or below. I think I still have that target saved someplace, was under 3/4" wide, right at 1/2" high.
I didn't own my Chrony at the time.

Could be anything.
Different primer
Different barrel
Different barrel length
Different chronograph
Different bullets
All, or any combination, of the above.
Your results may, or may not, mirror anyone's particular loading data, using your firearm and your components. That is the hardesrt part about handloading ammunition. All the info out there, is only so good, and the best available, is still only a rough guide.

My Hornady data was generated, according to the manual, using an M1, 24" barrel, 10" twist, Hornady/Frontier cases, Win. WLR primers, their boat-tail #3037 loaded to 3.185", their A-MAX loaded to 3.240".
They do not even show H4895 in the regular 30-06 section under a 150-155 gr bullet, for whatever reasons, and in the Win. model 70 they used, they show very little troubel hitting 2900-3000fps.
Your Hodgdon data uses a Nosler 150gr BT loaded to 3.250, and they do not say anything about the barrel.
I just downloaded the entire load manual, it specs Winchester case, primer, 24" barrel.
My Lyman manual used a "Universal Reciever" barrel, 26" length, Winchester cases, Remington bullets for the 150 grain testing (but do not show H4895 for that weight, used IMR4895)
As is the norm arround here "Your results may vary".
