What is the best laser bore sighter out there for the dollar? I want to hear what has worked for people and what hasn't.

Thanks,

Jerry

It depends. The "Site Rite" goes in your chamber like a bullet and works very well. The only draw back is you are limited to only the most popular rifle calibers. On the other hand the "Site Lite" SL100 will work with anything from 22 to 50cal and I believe most come with the Scope Retical Leveler. When I bought mine that was an option. Be warned though I went through 3 cheaper ones prior to buying the Site Lite and in the case of these things it truly will benifit you to pay a little more. Even so I think you can pick up either of the above models for under $100.00

Recoil,

Thanks, I don't want to go thru buying cheap ones and then buy a good one.

I used to have a rule about the way places did their work. It is as follows,

We seem to be able to find the money to do this project the right the second time .

So I ask questions and look at projects.

Thanks,

Jerry

A very good rule to live by. The cheaper ones I tried appeared to work when using them but when I would get to range I might be on the paper or at least the backstop but would require many more rounds to reach zero. One day I was at the range and my 22-250 started scattering bullets. I did not have a bore sighter with me but the guy next to me happen to have a Site Lite. After I used it I was within 1" of center at 20yrds. I think this tells the whole story

I used to be able to bore sight extremely well with out technological help. Then with time and age, I bought a Bushnell bore sighter to help out and then in recent times I bought a laser bore sighter.

The laser makes things much faster and easier.

I have a clue and realized that with age you get wisdom, which should be applied where needed.

After the Army, I finished up my engineering degree and when on to my doctorate, after working as a field engineer and well as the office bound project engineer. I eneded up teaching at several universities. I have the wisdom of that poor guy out in the field that has to fix these things that engineers design. I made good money diging ditches and climbing telephone poles and noted all the things that I would change.

Plus I have traveled and lived in other countries, which gave me a perspective in to many other cultures and methods of doing things that we here in states never thought of.

But many things have a rule of thumb, and these rules are much better than doing a lot of research unless truly needed.

On paper you can prove that an elephant can hang over the side of a cliff with it's tail holding on to a daisy. You don't want to be the elephant in this experiment.

Common sense is a learn part of what a human being is about, but we don't seem to impart that knowledge and skill to our young.

I just want my ground hogs to die. I don't over think the situation, I just load up and shoot until the critter is dispatched, which generally is 1 shoot. It doesn't matter whether it is a Mossberg M46 in 22LR or a Rem 700 Classic in 300 RUM, they all kill the buggers.

I have never felt the need for a bore sighter. When mounting a new scope.First I sight them in at 25 yds and then go to 100.A bolt rifle allows the bolt to be removed and to sight down the bore.On a target, looking thru the bore at 25 yds and propped in sandbags the scope can be adjusted for the same sight picture.consulting ballistics tables will tell where to hit at 25 to be close at 100.Then I go for the desired zero, such as 250 yds for a 270.

I hate to say it but the laser bore sight sold at Wally World works as good or better than most. Sighting down the bore works great , but as the bore size gets bigger then the harder it is to get close to center.

I bought the Laser Bore Sighter that Cabela sells, it was on sale, plus I had a $20 discount coupon that I used for this and a few other things.

This bore sighter works well and the whole process only took a couple of minutes.

I have a Bushnell laser Bore Sight and it  works great. Bore Sight at about 25 yds and go to the range. Always shoot at 50 yds, but if in a hurry will go to 100 yd table, has worked every time but one.

With my less expensive laser bore sighter, I have clicked most of my rifles in near center bullseye position. The ammo, the weather and the rifle are whatever else makes the slight differences that need to be corrected manually after I got my rifles sighted in.

i use the Bushnell but still take out the bolt for a look see. I've thought of trying the lasers but don't do it often enough that I could justify it. Its usually takes no more than 3 rounds to be right on at a hundred (and 30 minutes if tinkering).
Hey Jerry have you ever seen the engineered tree swing :)
