I have a 10lb Lee and was advised to buy a much more expensive one. Have used that Lee for about 15 years and have run about 200 to 250lbs per year through it and the only thing wrong with it is the dent in the side when it fell from a shelf about 8 feet high and was full of lead (solid not melted). That happened about 5 years ago and its still going fine.

I know of a guy locally that uses a WW II gasoline powered "infantry stove" and a small dutch oven to melt his lead down. There are a couple guys else where that use a modified gas BBQ grill. I just do some much volume that I need the equipment I use.
Since this picture I have added a lead pouring laddle to my equipment.

now thats a serious lead set up! I love to shoot my .45-70 and it doesn't take many 450 grainers to empty a 10lb pot.

I cook up 50 pounds of alloy with my big pot. When I set up, I do maybe 250 or 300 pounds of lead.
Depending on the weather, soon I will cook up more. I am waiting for antimony to arrive.

Am I the only one that still cast Boolits from a dipper pot?
Sounds like most still use a dipper for smelting but not for actual Boolit casting.

I still use my dipper especially with my large flat base bullets. It is hard for me to get them to fill out properly with the bottom pour.

What is your favorite bullet? I have a rebarrelled Siamese Mauser. It loves the 300 gr lee for fast loads and the 500 flat nose RCBS for light load (kinda weirs but, it works).

My favorite caliber to cast for is 45-70 and my 35 Reminton.
Quigly, that is a nice setup for casting.
