My father(he's 88) is looking for 380's and the local gun stores have had it on their list for months.

Last week a friend of mine went to a gun show and a guy had one box for 50$(I don't know how many in the box) he just said he new dad wouldn't want to pay that for it.

I looked on midway and they have all their 380s listed on back order.

Yesterday he ordered two boxes from sportsmans warehouse with a delivery in 2010.

This is popular caliber for old people, women and people (like me) who want smaller sidearms for person protection.

I've found 40S&W. 45 colts and such. But I would think that the 40S&W wouldn't be as popular as the 380.

Anyway I guess everyone is having some kind of problem like this.

I have been hearing , that at the current time , 380 is the hardest ammo to come by. I also just heard the same thing on a recent podcast of "Guntalk". However I war at a local gunshop here in PA called Trop Gunshop and when I walked into the ammo isle I was actually impressed that they had every single spot filled on their shelves. I really do think things are starting to slow down a bit , but I wouldn't put it past our current Commander in Cheif to say or do something moronic to start this whole frenzy all over again......in other words I Have not stopped picking up ammo when I see it

A few months ago the regional salesman was in the shop while I was looking around. He confirmed at that time there was no 380 ammo on the market.

That is not to say you could not walk into some small shop and find a box.

He and another shop owner said that gun manufactures that produced guns in 380 were cutting back on the number they were producing because of the shortage.

Around here 357 mag ammo is very hard to find but others are returning to the shelves as indicated.

For me 45 Colt was in short supply but now they have more options in that caliber.

As for 380 I don't know the state of availability because I don't shoot it any more and have a LARGE supply loaded from the past!

As a side note I have found 380 brass for sale in most stores including Wal Mart. There did not seem to be a shortage of empty new and used brass in this area.

I just ordered some mag-tech from cabelas, everything else was on backorder, none to be found locally for months now. Brass is available, but not bullets, you would have to cast your own.

Cheaper Than Dirt is advertising a brand called Bitterroot Valley in .380ACP for $31.79 per 50...

By the way, I have 195 88gr FMJ HP 9mm bullets for sale.. I'd trade, but there's not a hell of a lot that I need...

How about $20, plus a little shipping???

PM if interested...

I cast 92 grain bullets for the 380 and probably have a few hundred pieces of brass. Then have a several ammo cans full of loaded 380 ammo.

FishingFlorida, let me know if you want to trade around for some 380.

Thanks all

I bought 100 rounds for my father today(I hope). Hopefully they'll be here in 5-6 days.

So he has these and the stuff that sould be delivered in 2010.

40twist, I emailed Trop Gunshop Saturday after you made your post and asked if they shipped out of state. They haven't replyed so I'm assuming that they don't, but thanks again.

And 3006 user thanks, for the offer I may think of reloading these things later, right now I just needed some for my father to practice with a little and for the pistol that he keeps with him all the time.

My sons have 380s and I now have dies and moulds. Will be able to keep them supplied if they save their brass. Picked up my Af. bound son an extra box just in case he needed something for "up close and personal", wc

I picked up a used / new looking CZ83 in 380acp and haven't shot it yet.  I ordered 500rds of wolf 380acp ammo for it.  Since the ammo is harder to get I picked up a CZ83 & a CZ82 in 9mm mak to play with.
