  • What constitutes "Big game" or "Small game" ?

Heres your chance to get it off your chest. .

What do YOU think constitutes the above?
    I will add another conundrum. . .
    Medium game!

    To me:
Small game is all birds, rabbits/hares, fox..... Now here is where it will start getting interesting...US / Overseas game animals: Gopher, Prairie dogs. Basically up to about 20lbs.

    Medium:
Fallow, Roe, Red, White Tail deer, Coyote - pretty much anything in the 20 - 500 lbs region.

    Big game:
Well BIG stuff, Buffalo, Bison, Wapiti, Moose (of course the African species as well - but how many of us either want or could afford a Elle, Rhino or Cape Buff etc trip?).

So over to you, lets have some robust discussion oh but dont forget ......

I never gave it much thought, I just let the state worry about the classification, then buy the appropriate tag and license for the animal I'm hunting. For instance, wild turkey and javelina are classed as big game in Arizona, but in New Mexico and Texas I think they're classed as small game.

Small game, whole animal, normally cooked for one meal.
Medium game, big enough to make multiple meals and small enough for one, to handle.
Large game, big enough for season of meat and to need help handling it.
Varmint, any animal, you don't normally eat.
Quote from the Rev. Martin Niemöller, a Holocaust survivor:

First, they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out -- because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out -- because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out -- because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me -- and there was no one left to speak for me.

        small fills a man, maybe
        Medium fills a family

Small game you hunt it with a 22lr.

Winged game you hunt it with a shotgun.

Medium game you hunt it with a centerfire.

Large game you watch shows of other people hunting them.
If it weren't for double standards, liberals would have no standards at all.

If it outweighs me, it's big. If it's smaller than my ex was 40 years ago, it's small. Anything between is medium. YMMV, uv cuss.

I agree 100% but as there is no thread for medium game posting in the big-game section would be proper. We probably need a special thread for Deer, Antelope and other medium game.
